Enjoy magic from dawn to dusk at the only campground at the Walt Disney World® Resort. Make yourself at home in an air-conditioned cabin, or stay in our newly rehabbed "Big-Rig Friendly" campsites. Hike winding paths, explore nature trails on horseback and have the time of your life in the great outdoors with our seemingly endless recreation opportunities.

Nestled in a serene forest, Disney’s Wilderness Cabins offer a quaint, relaxing escape in surroundings that capture the timeless beauty of pioneer days. And for a real back-to-nature experience, new "Big-Rig Friendly" campsites are available for travel trailers, motor homes and tents.

For folks who love nature and the spacious convenience of a full kitchen and living area, The Ft Wilderness Cabins offer the opportunity to blend the serenity of a Florida forest with the excitement of Disney magic. Transportation is easiest if you have a car (there is a parking space for one car by each cabin). Otherwise, it is a bus from various points amongst the cabins to either the boat to Magic Kingdom or another bus stop for buses to the rest of the World. Golf carts are available for rental to get around the grounds. Set in a “world apart” this home away from home resort has its own range of “countrified” amusements including:

  1. An evening campfire with a marshmallow (bring your own marshmallows or cash to buy them) roast, sing-a-long, visit from Chip n Dale, and movie under the stars
  2. Picnic pavilion
  3. Hayrides
  4. Hoop De Doo Revue Dinner Show that books a year in advance so get your tickets early:)
  5. Mickey's Backyard BBQ - Seasonal
  6. Horse Stables where horses are available for riding, visiting and Horse-drawn carriage rides
  7. 2 Pools - One located near campground and a 2nd pool near the cabins area (Child wading pool)
  8. Children's playground and Arcade
  9. Archery
  10. Segways Adventure
  11. Bike rental for exploring the area and a Marina/boat rental
  12. Waggin' Trails Dog Park
  13. Trails End Buffeteria serving three meals of all you can eat Country cookin’
  14. Trading Post for basic food essentials and other shopping needs

Each cabin has a fully stocked kitchen, an eating area, living room with a Murphy bed, one bathroom, and a bedroom with either a double and bunk beds or one double bed. The cabins are in a ‘gated’ community. Daily housekeeping service is included. Outside each cabin is a picnic table and charcoal grill. Remember to bring a flashlight ; >)

I stayed at Ft Wilderness and it was great!  Its a fun to place to stay and the rating only goes up to 5, but I give it a ten.

Fort Wilderness Cabims on 12/22/2005 by W Von Kanel

We just returned from Fort Wilderness Cabins.  The cabins were absolutely wonderful.  They were very roomy and very clean.  Housekeeping came by everyday.  The transportation around the campground and from the campground to the parks was great.  We never waited over 10 minutes for a bus.  There was boat transportation to Magic Kingdom.  It took around 10 minutes to get to Magic Kingdom from the campground.  My only recommendation is to rent a golf cart.  It is very pricey but was worth every penny.  Getting around the campground would be more of a hassle without the golf cart.  If you decide not to rent a golf cart, there is a bus that runs every few minutes throughout the campground. The only hassle with that is that you take a campground bus to get to the main bus stop and then you get on another bus to the parks.  The campground was very quiet and very clean.  I would recommend the cabins to any family.  It beat staying in a hotel any day!!!!

I loved it.. on 11/15/2003 by Priscilla

I went back during spring break of 99, and absoutely loved it there. I am an out doorsy type of person, so staying in the cabins fit me to a T. We were not able to get a golf cart, and were told they book up months in advance. My kids loved roasting marshamallows at night, and horseback riding. They also enjoyed the petting zoo as well. The inside of our cabin was very clean and well kept. It surpassed my expectations. I do not know if the buses have changed, but I remember the Crockett,Boone, Chip and Dale buses that drove through the resort area. By the time we were ready to leave I was finally learning which bus went where. I loved being able to get on the boat and head to the Magic Kingdom. The ONLY time I had to drive my car during my entire stay is when I headed over to the trading post to get some snacks and food to cook for breakfast. My husband likes the fact that you have a grill to cook on, and he loves to grill out. We didnt get to do the Hoop Dee Do musical review, because there were no tables available. We did however get to make it to the Trail Ends buffet, and enjoyed it there. We are the type that like good country and southern cooking so we fit right in. I would highly recommened the cabins for any families, especially those who like the outdoors.

Our family loved the Wilderness Cabins on 3/20/2003 by Christie

Our family stayed in the cabins in 2001. They were much nicer than we expected. We are a family of four, and had plenty of room. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds. My suggestion is to request a cabin near the front, close to the pool. Farther back near the camp sites, its more crowded and louder. We had a peacock that visited us everyday, and would eat from the kids hands.
