The Earl of Sandwich shop recently opened its doors to Guests at Downtown Disney Marketplace.
Operating in the former location of Gourmet Pantry, the new Quick Service Food and Beverage operation features a variety of hot, freshly prepared sandwiches.
The restaurant features an open kitchen, and interior and exterior seating for 220 Guests. The dining area reflects the history of the Earl of Sandwich combined with a contemporary edge. Wall grahpics include photos from the Sandwich family archive and the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England.
Hot, freshly prepared sandwiches with original sauces and spreads highlight the menu, which also includes salads, wraps, ready-made sandwiches, desserts and merchandise.
The shop's name honors British naval officer John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, who is credited with inventing the sandwich in 1762. Montagu's living descendant, 11th Earl of Sandwich John Montagu, and his son Orlando collaborated with Robert Earl.
